# 16 Create a Great First Impression

Creating a good first impression may not take as much work as you think. First, paint or reseal your front door. If your door is wood, buy a can of polythurethane and recoat your door. It will look brand new! If your door is steel, buy a good primer designed for this specific use and then paint the door a contrasting color to your trim. The paint store has brochures with color suggestions. Find a grouping which matches your house color and trim and choose from one of the coordinating colors.

It is very easy to update your concrete steps or landing. Power wash and then paint or stain. Paint is very durable these days and it will last for a very long time. The concrete can also be covered with pavers for a totally new look. Apply adhesive to the pavers and lay in a multitude of patterns. Try to pick a pattern that yields the least amount of cutting!

There are also many outdoor rugs
which can lend a homey feel. Make sure you do not leave your old welcome mat!

Add a chair and some potted flowers and voila!
