# 18 A Perfect Outdoor Retreat

Do you dream of a quiet evening outside enjoying a delicious meal with the sun setting and the stars coming out overhead. Build the perfect retreat in your own backyard.  Constructing a simple pergola might not be as difficult as you think. You will need to dig four deep holes for the corner posts. Partially fill with concrete, leave until dry. Set the corner posts, bracing until level. Add the remainder of the concrete and leave overnight. Add cross beams and secure with large bolts. Designs are available online or you can create a design of your own. The pergola can be as simple or as elaborate as you like. They are all beautiful. Leave the wood natural, stain, or paint for a unique look. Add pavers, gravel or mulch underneath for a cozy retreat. Plant vining plants at each post for a natural look. A table, a few chairs and a yummy meal is all you need for a perfect evening.
