# 39 Feeling Green

Green is a calming color. It brings the feeling of outside, in. Choosing a green that you love can be difficult.
Greens are notoriously hard to match because they can have a yellow, blue, gray, or brown tint But creating the ideal green palate is not impossible. The key is to view your elements -- from paint to area rugs-- in their designated room. Lighting affects how you see a color. Seeing how colors will look in a room's light will help you match your hues.

Shades of blue or shades of orange are complimentary colors. Use a variety of shades of green for a rich look. Be careful not to be too "matchy, matchy."
Construct a classic color palate by choosing one main color, like bright sage, for major elements like walls and upholstery. Choose a brighter color, like golden yellow, as an accent for window treatments and accessories. Wainscoting and ceiling, both in white, add another classic touch to the bright room.
