Paint stripes for impact. Paint an accent wall, an alcove, or above the chair rail. Stripes can be off any size and can be painted horizontally or vertically. Large stripes are more elegant. You may also use molding to stripe an accent wall and add dimension.
To add stripes to a wall, paint the entire wall the base color in a satin paint. Let dry completely. Measure and mark. Use a straight edge to draw a straight line. Tape with blue painter's tape and then paint alternate areas with flat paint a shade or two lighter.
